General execution
Standard trafomodern products (unless expressly otherwise ordered or offered) have following technical and design characteristics:
Resin impregnation
The impregnation protects the product against corrosion, improves the thermal characteristics or improves the heat emission. The "gluing" of the iron core significantly reduces the transformer’s tendency to hum.As an option, the products can be covered with tropics resistant finish, which gives additional protection against humidity and thus against corrosion, should the ambient conditions be less than ideal. »Optional equipment
Weld seams
The yokes of small transformers are generally welded together with the limbs. For small transformers up to an output of 1.6kVA, the brackets are welded to the transformer’s limbs. From 1.6 kVA upwards, screws fix them.
Core plates
The core plates used are exclusively high quality core sheets or cold rolled core oriented magnetic steel sheets (for standard products, the thickness is 0.35mm or 0.5mm).
Winding
The primary as well as the secondary windings are made out of enamel insulated copper wires, aluminium is not used as a standard.
Insulation class
The transformers are designed according to insulation class B, which implies a maximum constant temperature of 130°C. Other usual insulation classes according to IEC 85 and IEC 216 are:
- A (105 °C)
- E (120 °C)
- F (155 °C)
- H (180 °C)
Ambient conditions
The transformers are suitable for installation and use in dry locations up to 1000m above sea level. At higher altitudes, the transformer’s output is reduced in accordance with the derating graph. »ABC of transformers
Air self-cooling transformers are designed for a maximum ambient temperature of 40 °C. If the transformers are used at higher temperatures, their output is reduced in accordance with the derating graph under »ABC of transformers
Degree of Protection
The standard transformers have a degree of protection of IP00. Together with the optional equipment, the protection rating can be increased to IP23. Higher protection classes like IP54 for example are not available as standard products, but our sales force will always be pleased to make you an offer on request.
RoHS conformity
The product portfolio of trafomodern is not concerned by this directive. Nevertheless all products of trafomodern are RoHS-compliant and fulfil the EU-directive 2002/95/EG.
REACH regulation
The product portfolio of trafomodern is not concerned by this regulation. All products manufactured by trafomodern fulfil the REACH regulation 1907/2006 of the Europaen Parliament and of the council. Trafomodern does not produce such products. At normal usage no such substances will be emitted. Trafomodern only uses and assembles the purchased material, therefore trafomodern is only the user of such substances
